2.8 million Nokia 5800 sold since Jan 2009
While the recession has its effect big time on Nokia’s bottomline the good news is that the Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic is an instant hit. Nokia has reportedly sold 2.8 million of them in the last quarter and expects to sell at least 1 million units every month.
The key to the amazing sales of 5800 is the good feature set along with competitive pricing. While the iPhone appeals to the pro users, Nokia is all for the masses. Aggressive marketing in Asian markets has helped Nokia achieve this milestone.
5800 scored over iPhone 3G again with basic things like Sms forwarding, Bluetooth transfer, handwriting recognition, video recording etc in place. At this rate Nokia would sell 12 million 5800 by year end – this would give the iPhone a serious run for its money. Apple recently announced that they have sold 17 million iPhones till date. Thats roughly a million a month.
Android fans / manufacturers would also be looking at these figures very closely. We are surely in a SmartPhone Boom!
