LG GD910 Review

Have you ever noticed someone talking to themselves then it can only be 2 class of people, one who have something wrong fundamentally somewhere, and, two it could be the class of people who own a bluetooth headset. But now if you find anyone using their wrist while talking, then do remember that they do not fall in to the above mentioned two categories, but they evolved after LG has launched its latest model – LG GD910.

Its pretty much confusing to decide on to whether to declare the phone as a wrist watch or a mobile device. The best thing to think about the phone is, LG has not compromised on any of the basic features supported by the phone, in order to give the phone a trendy look.

DESIGN The first thing that will give the phone a very indifferent look would be, its bulkier size or rather its thickness. IF your kind of person who likes to try hefty or funky watches, than this is one that is absolutely of your kind. The strap is absolutely fine, a leather kind with a metal clasp that helps you lock the phone stay on your wrist.

The 1.43″ 256K-color capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 128 x 160 pixels, is at first little difficult to handle, but as we get used its sure very interesting to use. The best impressive feature that gets retained in our mind after using the phone would be its response to background light in outside sunlight. The display is considerably good, and has a good balance.

The sides of the phone are concentrated with connect call key, End call key, clear/back button key. for the dimensions available on the phone, the keys have been well spaced. The bottom side of the phone has a dial, which allows you to unlatch the device, by rotating and this can simply be done by just using a coin. On removing the back cover, the first thing that is evident is the slot for SIM card provision. To charge the battery you need to place the GD910 on the special cradle which takes in a proprietary LG charger or data cable.

Inside t Phone When we look at the phone we can easily understand that there are lot of display features that have been compromised,  especially there are only 4 basic icons that are available. The flash player used is indeed dis-appointing. Like there are lot of themes available in today’s mobile phones, 910 is no lesser in offering a variety of themes, all watch based themes.

As far as the touch is concerned, a sweep to the left of the phone takes us to the stand-by screen, along with extra information about the battery status, current profile and signal strength. There are totally three modes of profiles available, on the top of the main screen. A sweep to the right takes the display to the calendar, where holding to a particular date, or pressing the calendar takes us to list of options available inside calendar, without having to go through the Menu option.

The dialing screen is indeed really bad, a little campy and clumsy, making it a big challenge for the users with large fingers. The phone-book is indeed a neutral feature, because the room available to display the contact details, though small, but there is room for storing as much as 1000 contacts in the phone-book.

The major part of the phone comes here “Voice rendering capability”. The phone though is a wrist oriented device, you don’t have to really hold it close to your mouth, or strain yourself by increasing your intensity level. The audio output is considerably good, but for you to listen to the recipient you considerably need a quite environment. But LG has assured that the voice quality is good and interference free. Just have a look at the results of the audio test results,

Voice, dB    Pink noise/ Music, dB    Ringing phone, dB    Overall score
60.7              61.7                                      66.1                                 Below Average

If you are a message freak, then there is very big dis-appointment for you in this device, since the phone offers messaging features much lesser than the easily accepted features. If at all you were to type a lengthy word, then the display is completely not going to help you.

To compensate for these, the phone is a good Multimedia device, that offers a barely feature music player, that is capable enough of sorting songs automatically as per albums, genres, artists. The player front screen has good visualization with equalizers. The player also supports all other basic functionality like play, pause, stop buttons right on the screen, repeat features. Camera is a VGA kind, 640X480 pixels, It will snap a contact picture in good lighting conditions and that’s about as good as it gets for it.
