While many are comparing the enterprise side effects of Nokia and Microsoft coming together, the consumer side has been left out it seems. True that Microsoft would provide MsOffice and Business essentials to Nokia devices such that it would provide a much more cost effective solution to companies. They plan to make this economically more viable than the current offerings by RIM Blackberry.
However what should be noted here is Nokia is not the best bet for MS in US. Carrier tieups are crucial here, consumers are used to using those HTC’s and iPhone’s (yes yes the Blackberry aswell!). This would resist the shift towards Microsoft+Nokia.
This alliance would benefit Microsoft capture growing markets like India where the smartphone boom is underway and Blackberry isn’t that household name yet!
