Nokia acquired Dopplr: Step towards becoming a major Mobile VAS player

Nokia has already made its intentions of being a service provider clear. From Music, Maps, Apps to Finance all it’s plans are a open secret. And here they have just acquired Dopplr that serves international travellers.

Dopplr is a service for smart international travelers. Dopplr members share personal and business travel plans privately with their networks, and exchange tips on places to stay, eat and explore in cities around the world.

Dopplr is popularly referred as a social travel network. It helps users plan their trips and share it with friends. The deal is expected to be worth $15 – $20 million. Dopplr also has an iPhone / iPod touch app and integrates with Flickr and Twitter.
