Nokia N900 Review
The first feature that deserves true appreciation is the change from Symbian OS to Linux Maemo version, which has inturn made it possible for the designers to implement a variety of other features. The internet browser is Mozilla which happens to be Maemo latest version of internet browser inbuilt with a Adobe Flash 9.4.
As far as the Design and Construction goes, the phone has a very close
resemblance to its grand-father mobiles. The front panel is completely dedicated to 3.5 inches, display screen. There is nothing other than the display in the front panel. On sliding the display left-top reveals the QWERTY keyboard. The touch-screen is really very quick and responsive. Apart from the entire usual feature that the phone is expected to have because of its decadence, there are lots more.
All the others have remained the same, the USB port which is placed at the top, which also serves as the point for charging the device. Accompanied by the lock button beside this slot. The speakers are concentrated at the bottom. Camera lens as usual at the back and comes with a shutter, protecting the lens from external disturbances. For sure the phone is not heavy and bulky, it’s a little more than calling it “Handy”, but sure fits into your pockets.
The desktop can easily be configured with a simple drag and drop, dragging and dropping applications of your choice from anywhere to the desktop helps you customize your phones desktop. Yet other feature that has been newly introduced is the “Tap! Tap! Tap!” when tapping your phone continuously opens a list of open windows, call logs, documents, and functions on a tab based interface.
The first two lines of this review must have given you about the basic functionalities that are supported by the device, as far as internet services are concerned. All social networking sites are possible, and the 3.5’’ display plays a vital role in rendering the best output. High speed 3G, HSDPA, WLAN, WiFi are used for broadband internet connectivity and Regular WCDMA, EDGE, GPRS and WAP based internet are also supported.
The phone supports all multimedia services with no doubt. Though, the phone is surely not a music player, it has been powered with a stereo speaker and FM Radio, supporting wide range of audio and video files like including Flash, MPEG, Mp3, FLV, Mp4, RM, etc.. it would make this review incomplete if the camera features are not discussed. The phone comes with a 5mpx Carl Zeiss with Dual Led Flash for optimum digital photography and stunning 16:9 WVGA DVD quality widescreen video. That must simply answer your questions about the quality of the picture and images captured with N900.
