Nokia E55 Review

nokia-e55-01

nokia-e55-01E55 was launched along with E75, during 2009 a complete business phone. E55 has been the first attempt of nokia to introduce a compact QWERTY keypad. The word compact is just to let you know that the traditional QWERTY keypad has been compressed to accommodate in a set of 20 keypads. E55 has its design captured from from its predecessors E66 and E71 and E55 looks more like a twin brother of E51. The phone comes with a Wi-Fi, GPS and two cameras – a 3.2-megapixel main camera and an additional one for video calls. In short the phone has those features which make it a trade marked business model.

Design and Construction                                                                                                                                                       The phone has been well designed with high quality materials unlike the gsmarena_008previous models where ther is scarce touch of plastics here and there. The overall size and weight of the device are perfectly balanced and makes it simple to handle. The front panels has mainly two sections, a 2.4 – inch TFT display which supports 16 million colors with a native resolution of 240X320 pixels. The other noteworthy thing about the device is that its performance when exposed to direct sunlight is extraordinarily good. The light-sensitivity sensor, loudspeaker and video call camera are located above the screen.

Navigational keys are place a little different from the usual models like E75. But that doesn’t either matter to us as along as the “Call” and “End call” keys are placed appropriately. As already mentioned the other experiment that Nokia has handled in this model in its front panel, is its 20 key compact keypad. This reminds us of some RIM devices which pose similar looks. The keys are well placed and spaced giving us room to slip over the keys in a comfortable manner and messaging too isn’t that difficult. Since there are four rows, people with little long and fat fingers might find it little difficult to use both the hands simultaneously, since there isn’t room for two.

The micro-USB is on the left side, there is no flap protecting it. The power on and off button is on the top side along with the 3.5mm Jack and on the right is the volume rocker and camera shutter key. The phone supports WCDMA, HSDPA and WLAN internet connection. The ultimate aim for this is the fact to allow the business man to reach out his mails even in run. The data transfer is also considerably good.
