A patent has been re-filed by Research In Motion (RIM) for a completely new interface for conference calls on a BlackBerry. This new patent really seems to improve the conference calls feature on BlackBerry.

It will now take a single image which you have selected for a particular contact and display it as an avatar, along with the name and the phone number of the contact, while you are on a conference call. It seems to have some more extra features as you can clearly see in the images that you will now have the ability to send an email or chat to a selected contact while on the conference call.

Looks like RIM is working on a complete remake for the conference call feature giving it a totally new look and the ability to add up to 14 individual participants on a call. It also has a feature to cycle through participants in a conference call and select certain options for each individual.

Certainly this is going to be a very amazing feature for business users and I believe that RIM wont be disappointing in-terms of such an important feature.
