21 Jun 10 NFC soon to embedded in all Nokia Phones by 2011

Nokia’s vice president, Anssi Vanjoki, announced that every Nokia phone will have in-built NFC (Near Field Communication) from 2011. It will  enable Nokia smartphone owners to make ticketing transactions and payments from thier cellphones and also sharing content with other NFC-enabled devices if needed. NFC is a technology that enables users who have their credit card information stored on a SIM card or microSD memory card to make quick payments.

NFC is a short-range radio technology that allows devices such as cell phones to act as mobile payment devices. The NFC chip inside the phone can be programmed to trigger a number of different actions when it comes in contact with another NFC chip or reader.

The NFC functionality will be delivered via the user’s SIM .
