14 Jun 10 Nokia X5-01 square slider is officially announced in Singapore

Nokia is officially out with Nokia X5-01 today in Singapore at the Nokia Connections, bridging the gap between the X3 and X6 in the series. This square-shaped phone is a combination of a smart phone and a great music player. This phone reminds us of the Motorola Flip-out, Nokia Twist, Microsoft KIN one and Micromax Bling Q55. It has a curvy back (looks cute and chubby ;) ), and boasts a 5 MP camera with LED Flash with a 4X digital zoom. Nokia X5-01 includes a dedicated music key and joins ‘Comes with Music’ league of mobile phones. It features the Symbian S60 v3 Features Pack 2.

It comes in colours like black, hot pink, bright blue and yellow (yes yellow!). It will ship with a 2GB memory card and can be expanded up to 32GB. We heard that a few months back, Nokia had launched a similar kind of model in China(and probably it was not rolled out to any other country), so this is not to be confused with it! Nokia X5-01 boasts with a new feature called “Surprise Me” in which you can play any random music from your music library by shaking it when the music is already on. While the music is off, shaking the device tells you the number of new messages you have in your inbox(sounds interesting!).

And even more exciting thing here is that it will come in 165 Euros(9500 INR). Nokia is targeting the youth by having social media integration like Facebook, MySpace and Hi5. We feel it will meet its targeted audience with this product. Presence of Wi-Fi is still a question. We expect the exact spec sheet to come to us in a few days and we will update you soon with it. Stay tuned! ;)
