Nokia – Nintendo tried a phone back in 2000

A very interesting bit of news that came out yesterday that tells us that before going ahead with the not so successful NGage platform, Nokia actually tried to get a gaming phone done along with Nintendo way back in early 2000s. The R&D efforts were by Nintendo in Japan and we already know that this didn’t happen. Apparently Nintendo’s bosses didn’t approve the design / deal and Nokia went ahead on its own.

Given the importance of handheld gaming in phones today (thanks to the Apple iPhone / iOS), Nintendo might well be thinking of going the Finland way again!
