We been following the news around the rumored Nokia E6-00 since long, even when the pictures were not here. Later we shown you some glimpses as well, but nothing was comparable with the details that we spotted by now, loads of pics and multiple videos got leaked by the generous guys at Nokioteca forum.
Let’s see what we got here….
Some people might have a different opinion but I found the design exactly something what I was looking for. An E72/ E71/ E5 form factor boosted with high specs and a step ahead symbian as well. Fortunately the same source also confirmed that the unit is coming with BP-4L battery means 1500 mAh. Oh! thank God… finally 1500 mAh is back to E-Series. Note that even Nokia E7-00 isn’t equipped with 1500 mAh battery. So, we can finally expect a legendary kind of battery life here considering the battery consumption optimizations done inside Symbian^3.
When we take a look over the keypad then we find a similar layout we been used to with E-series lately, while there will always be room for innovations, we didn’t mind if they decided not to change the winning combination.
I must admit that presence of a lot of button feels a little strange here, while the same space could have been better utilized with a larger screen, but if the smaller screen (doesn’t seem to be lesser than 2.6” though) results in better grip over phone and longer battery.
After beloved portrait qwerty form factor, the second attraction about the upcoming device is the metallic body that seems to be same material as Nokia N8. Isn’t this something that we missed in C7-00? Same C7-00/E72 slim factor combined with Nokia N8 like durable metallic build and you say that Nokia days are over??? Dream on…
Though rumors saying that 8 mp Camera on it is not AF, but considering the slight budge, I think its the other way around. It seems to be auto focus (though the picture given below denies the same, but we still hope).
The picture shown above is taken from same Nokia E6-00 and sure follows the same legacy excellence as we now have became used to with Nokia devices. Such an excellence coming from an E-Series is sure a good sign. Be an AF and its all for an E72 successor… worth each penny for it.
The top carries the same 3.5mm audio jack like all Nokia devices, a power button and a microUSB port covered by plastic cap (still wonder that when Nokia gonna adopt sliding covers like on Samsung Galaxy S).
As others also spotted, there is no sign of a 2mm port means this device gonna have only microUSB charging along with USB OTG. I am not sure, I should be happy about this as plastic caps are not exactly my favorite kind of for regularly opening and closing.
The icons and other features are similar as we seen with other Symbian^3 devices, but we shouldn’t forget that this is a different screen and different 4:3 aspect ratio. This is definitely not gonna the same software as on other touch only 16:9 aspect ratio devices nor it seems to be a capacitive touch, which would make it the first resistive Symbian^3 device (if it gets called a Symbian^3).
When it comes to software, then yes, it definitely coming with the new software (PR2.0 as we know about) … let’s see some action here.
So.. are you buying it? I really think I am..
