Well, Skype and Windows Phone 7 have been playing a hide and seek game for a long while since the last year. Skype was being developed as an app last year on the Windows Phone 7 platform but was then dropped soon after, with unspecified reasons.

But then the unthinkable happened as Microsoft bought over Skype for a whopping $8.5 billion. Since then there have been rumors doing the rounds that Skype would now finally be integrated on the Windows Phone 7 platform. Though the same is yet to materialize till date with little rumors of the same happening here and there.

Now though there are strong rumors doing the rounds which suggest that Skype will finally make its debut on the Windows Phone 7 platform at the Mobile World Congress 2012, albeit in the form of an app instead of the integration which is supposed to follow suit pretty soon.

We know for certain that Skype on Windows Phone 7 is delayed after Microsoft had promised a late 2011 release, which obviously has not happened. Though off late Microsoft is looking a lot aggressive with the Windows Phone 7 and seems to be pushing it. At the same time the platform has finally managed to get some attention and traction with Nokia finally releasing its Lumia series of Windows Phone 7 handsets.

We feel this is the right time for Microsoft to release Skype for WP7 and give a boost to the momentum that the platform has been able to achieve lately. We will keep our eyes and ears open for any update at the MWC 2012 and update you as soon as we get any further update on this.
