Nokia beta labs has brought Braille to cellphones that will greatly help the visually impaired to read messages on a mobile device. Nokia Braille Reader uses vibrations to convey the message in a unique manner. This service can currently be used in the following touchscreen offerings from Nokia – N97, 5800 XpressMusic, N97 mini, 5530, 5230 and X6 models.
Nokia developed this technology along with Finnish Federation of the Visually Impaired and Tampere University. But this really makes me wonder when we have voice controls that can read out messages to the users, why do we need a app that will provide the touch feel? Its certainly a great app and a nice job done by Nokia, but is there enough marginal utility?

Nokia is surely having a tough time taking the Ovi Store to the masses. While the Apple iTunes App Store did some 100 million downloads in 2 months, the Nokia store is at 10 million since May 26th. Nokia faces challenges of catering a variety of platforms and structure within its lineup, thus the Ovi Store has failed to gain any significant momentum owing to lack of promotion and ease of usage.
With newer handsets coming with preinstalled Ovi Store, we can expect Nokia to better with the platform. Samsung has announced its App Store recently and the app market is surely getting hotter by the day. Nokia has an uphill task taking the Ovi Store to millions of existing Nokia users!

Nimbuzz is popular chat client on the iPhone and it seems they are gearing up for a release on Symbian S60 version 5 aswell. This would run on Nokia 5800, N97 and others.
Nimbuzz has a web-based interface with loads of features. Combining Skype, MSN, Yahoo, ICQ, AIM, Google Talk along with utilities like Contacts Backup aswell. The first impression, testing a pre-release version by decoder.com.au is positive.
First impressions are good, Nimbuzz has a very simple UI tons of configurable options and seamless integration with all of the major IM networks plus a number that I havent heard of.
