24 Oct 09 N900 release pushed to November, Nokia acting on feedback
The Maemo 5 powered Nokia N900 has created quite a buzz, however the launch of the same has been pushed back from October to November for Nokia to act on user feedback received during the pilot testing it did. Some 300 pre production units were given for test purposes and the findings have given Nokia some work before they rollout the device to the masses.
Last I heard about the device was on the first Engadget show where the resistive touchscreen was criticized. Hope Nokia delivers something good in November.

Apart from other phones were a few of the features have been compromised for the price that they are offered in, N97 seems to be one which can’t be taken for granted, since it is believed that N97 is a bold try of Nokia to fit all of today’s top features under one hood and offer a special ride. After many years of power-packed study and intense work, Nokia has come up with its phone that will belong to the class of mobile computer and Internet Tablet featured phone. The fact is that N900 is totally convincing in all ways and can surely be called “The Beast”, amongst the Nokia family of mobile phones. The basic features and functionalities have truly been rendered from the other basic models and smart-phone. From all the comments that the users have given I am pretty sure Nokia N900 deserves a great appreciation. 26 Aug 09 Press photo of N97 mini leaked, to be announced at Nokia World 09
The N97 mini is as real as you can imagine and here is the official press photo which begeek.fr has managed to get. You can see the missing dPad in the N97 mini keyboard and the same irritating placement of the spacebar.
The device would hopefully go official at the upcoming Nokia World in September.

04 Aug 09 Rumors confirm N97 Mini for September announcement
According to fresh rumors the Nokia N97 Mini shall see the light of day at Nokia World 09, early next month. Apparently the scaled down version of the N97 kicks out the D pad (nav button), and the screen size is reduced to around 3″.
The phone will certainly be cheaper and will appeal to the ones who have been terming the nokia communicator series as a compass box

This is where I feel Nokia gets is both – right and wrong. Some Nokia guy actually goes all the way to say that The new iPhone seems to have the same design and colour, upgrading from a sub-standard two-megapixel camera to a still low 3.2-megapixel camera…
The guy conveniently forgets the effect iPhone Video has on YouTube, the App store, OS 3.0 – in short the OS, UI, usability of the phone! specifications don’t make a great gadget – features and integration does! The strength os the iPhone is the usability and experience. If only Nokia could get over those number of megapixels etc. And at the same time get better processors and ram in place.

The new iPhone is an evolution rather than a revolution and for people trying to decide whether to get a Nokia N97 or an iPhone, it comes down to a decision on performance and value for money… The new iPhone seems to have the same design and colour, upgrading from a sub-standard two-megapixel camera to a still low 3.2-megapixel camera, and is probably a disappointment for many people given the high tariff and lifetime ownership costs.

A quick firmware update for the latest Nokia gizmo the N97 is out. Version 11.0.021 of the firmware fixes some bugs and increases efficiency. Here is the change log:
- USB detection error fix
- PC does not detect N97 or USB charging connection not detectedwidget
- Home screen online/offline widget crash fix
- Browser fixes to improve widgets stability
- Mail for exchange calendar entry synchronization error fix
- UI transition error fixes (Portrait <-> landscape transition, there is a home screen corruption.)
- UI transition (Slowness and bad effects)
- Slow Touch UI response
- Landscape: in some cases the soft buttons on touch (right hand) show the Home Screen in background (install maps.google.com)
- Photos thumbnail performance and stability improvements
