Finally a step has been taken towards eradicating piracy, thankfully by Nokia. Nokia has launched its Ovi Music Unlimited Services in Tamil Nadu. It offers great digital music downloads, all free! It gives the consumer an access to a variety of high quality music and also lets them customize their playlists. All those Nokia devices wherein the Ovi Unlimited Services are enabled can access the store. They can download as many tracks as they want, all at no cost! Isn’t this a good way to stop piracy?
The South Indian Music Companies’ Association(SIMCA) associated themselves to Nokia, addressed them what the Indian people wanted. Most of the youths prefer listening to music from their cell phones. Thus came the idea of opening an Ovi Music store. They believe that this will definitely help the music industry recover from its revenue disasters caused by piracy. We hope that it works for Nokia and who knows, soon we might see more and more Ovi Unlimited Music Service Stores coming up in our country. Hail Nokia!

Apparently some company named Ouvi in Brazil is not happy about Nokia coming up with the name OVI which sounds just the same as Ouvi. This has led to a courtroom battle between Nokia and Ouvi. Ouvi is so concerned about its brand name that it has taken the domain Ovi.com.br since 2004. Now that given with the similar names, changes of Nokia renaming OVi in Brazil is really high. To make things worse, Ouvi is a mobile player that sells rigntones and some SMS services. But hey, Nokia has that vitamin$ to its aid.

Nokia is surely having a tough time taking the Ovi Store to the masses. While the Apple iTunes App Store did some 100 million downloads in 2 months, the Nokia store is at 10 million since May 26th. Nokia faces challenges of catering a variety of platforms and structure within its lineup, thus the Ovi Store has failed to gain any significant momentum owing to lack of promotion and ease of usage.
With newer handsets coming with preinstalled Ovi Store, we can expect Nokia to better with the platform. Samsung has announced its App Store recently and the app market is surely getting hotter by the day. Nokia has an uphill task taking the Ovi Store to millions of existing Nokia users!

Nokia is killing the MOSH download site atlast. The recently announced OVI store will take the center stage now.
Mosh has a vision to empower the users who could post content for others to download. However with changing market conditions the focus would now be to get quality products from dedicated developers
No fixed date to pull the plug yet, btw Mosh has reached 137 million downloads; well not bad.
