One of the most simple and elegant models of Nokia is 1661. Nokia has managed to push all its most basic mobile phone functionality, inside the device and on the top adding a colored display, thus getting a positive review. Nokia has started accepting pre orders for the upcoming netbook: Booklet 3G in Italy. With 10″ display, sleek design, 12 hr battery drive, hd capabilities, gps, wifi and 3G – the Booklet3G is surely loaded. But in Italy Nokia is charging $1021 for this thing. Globally the prices were announced around $800, which is also very high IMHO.
Hope nokia knows what it is getting in to.

After too many speculations and the hide and seek between the media and Nokia, the mobile manufacturer has finally announced its mini Laptop.
The netbook comes with some decent features like 3G/HSPA and WiFi connectivity, 10″ display, Atom processor,built-in A GPS compatible with Ovi Maps, HD video out with HDMI port, integrated bluetooth and SD card reader. Weighing 1.25kg, the netbook gives a battery backup of 12-hours.

Nokia has now realized that it can no longer keep up its market leadership by concentrating on its hardware and bolstering its software. The company is readying its Nokia Store to compete with the Apple’s App store, the android market and the RIM (newly launched Blackberry App world).
Nokia wants to differentiate its wares by including location data and social networking aspects. for an instance, if a user agrees to be tracked by his geographical location, then the store will dynamically recognize his presence and send relevant information to the place.
Also, Nokia wants to improvise on the capabilities of the phone presenting its users a new experience. Nokia has teamed up with NCB heroes to form an interactive multi-platform storytelling named TEVA. The project is likely to roll out this summer and is expected to involve geo-tagging, social networking and professionally made video.
“It’s a very real-world idea,” said Kring. “We are trying to invent a new genre here.” Nokia has already released Beta versions of the software where, if the user points to movie poster with Camera, then by connecting to Internet, relevant info on the picture is brought like the theatres showing the movie etc. This software is tiled as Point and Find, its an open software where Nokia has welcomed other users, developers, intersters to exploit the product to its best.
“That’s why we spent $8 billion on NavTeq,” said Anssi Vanjaki, Executive VP of Markets,at a roundtable discussion. “It wasn’t just to provide maps or directions. Imagine 1 billion mobile phones contributing their location, and then what types of databases and services can be derived from that.” Nokia said it can see long term evolutions covering most of the major regions by 2015 and also a new era of how customers look at their phonesia
