Well as ironic as this may sound but the fact is that Nokia has earned more from the recent patent settlement it had with Apple than what they have made till date by selling the Windows Phone laden Lumia range of smartphones.

As a matter of fact, Nokia has actually lost money selling mobile devices in the last quarter which is reported to be around $1.7bn. Which is all the more surprising, considering that Nokia had introduced the Lumia smartphones in the last quarter itself and Nokia has also managed to sell around 2 million devices till date. Well, in case you are one of those who are waiting for the latest Windows Phone 7 laden flagship device from Nokia to be launched in your country, then you are in for some sad news here.

The device which has been already launched in the US exclusively with AT&T, will see a delayed arrival in the UK. The previous launch date for the device in UK has been moved from first the 9th to 27th of April and now directly to 14th of May now and you might be a little surprised to know the reason for the same.

As per the CEO of Nokia, i.e. Stephen Elop, multi-core processors viz dual-core and quad-core processors are simply a waste of the smartphones battery life and are hardly of any use to their users.

Off late, Nokia has been on a marketing campaign called the “Smoked by Windows Phone” or “Blown Away by Lumia” as it is called in India, wherein the Windows Phone based Lumia phones are made to compete with any other smartphone using day to day applications and have proved to be equally or even more efficient than these multi-core processor equipped smartphones as per Elop. We have already seen the limited edition of the Lumia 800 called Batman Mobile by Nokia. But it seems Nokia is in the works again and this time it will be the Lumia 900 which will be bundled in the limited The Dark Knight Rises edition handset.

Well in the first edition of the Dark Knight it was the Nokia Tube which was later released as the Nokia 5800 Music Xpress edition. It remains to be seen if the Lumia 900 will feature in the Dark Knight Rises as well.

The Nokia Lumia 800 didn’t exactly set the market on fire, though it is not doing very badly either. But Nokia’s upcoming flagship device has huge expectations on its shoulder especially after the Lumia 800 did not meet the kind of numbers expected of it.

As per the latest pricing image leaked by WP Central, the Lumia 900 will be priced at $499.99 in the Rogers store. There is no official confirmation of the price tag by Nokia yet. From the image it is also clear that the handset might be sold with some discount by Rogers, though difficult to determine how much. Also there is no indication on the release date of the device in Rogers.

While there is no doubt that the Nokia Lumia 800 has been given the best of the branding possible, it is such a shame that the Lumia 710 has been hardly promoted anywhere and as such been left in the lurch.

Nokia should have already realized that it is in fact the Lumia 710 which could get them better sales as it is no where but the entry level of smartphones where the Nokia Windows phone can create the maximum impact and as such need to promote their budget smartphone models as well.

Well it is no secret that Windows Phone Mango UI is way behind the leaders Android and iOS in the market in terms of growth.

Though, it is likely to start giving competition to some of the budget Android devices on the price front once the Tango version of the Windows Phone is launched in June.

Although a recent study by NetMarketShare suggests that the Windows Phone market share is already on the up and sailing northwards ever so slightly and steadily as well.

The Lumia 800 was surely one eye candy device. Though, unfortunately after being plagued by a number of performance issues it indeed functioned like an eye candy as well.

The battery issue on the Lumia 800 as a result of which the battery lasts way bless than 8 hrs, even when you put it on the sleep mode, has been well covered in the media.

Well, if rumors are to be believed. Nokia is all set to launch its latest flagship device the Lumia 900 on April 9th in the UK.

The Nokia Lumia 900 has a larger 4.3” display and a front facing camera as opposed to the Lumia 800 which lacks a front facing camera and has a smaller screen with a lower quality Pentile Matrix display.
