Recession has had its toll on Nokia for some time now. With layoffs and production cuts being a common term industry wide; Nokia has apparently canceled all manufacturing jobs outsourced to other companies.
Around 17% of Nokia’s ‘engines’ (the main hardware circuit that forms the mobile device) were manufactured by third party suppliers. However saving $5bln in cost, Nokia has terminated all such contracts for now.
This would mean that Nokia would now manufacture all its devices itself.
