Nokia has decided to use MeeGo instead of Symbian OS for manufacturing  smartphones. Nokia’s N8 will be the last phone of nokia which will be having Symbian operating system. All the smartphones after Nokia N8 will be having MeeGo as its operating system. Now Symbian will be used for all the X and E series handsets. Though Symbian has a rich history as Nokia’s flagship operating system, it just can’t compete with Android and iOS, which are now moving into larger devices such as tablets and netbooks. This has made necessary for Nokia to shift to MeeGo to challenge other platforms like Android and iOS.
