Nokia has filed the largest number of 5G patents
The mobile sector may not be as lucrative as it used to be, but the telecommunications equipment sector is still standing, and thanks to the smart and capable people working in it, it can introduce many technologies to the real world, and at the same time the mobile sector’s shortcomings. Compensate in terms of income.
In other words, Nokia, as we know it, has now become a patent-based company, largely due to Nokia Technology. This department is responsible for designing and recording technological solutions for everyday life. But in addition to the intelligence of its employees, Nokia’s continued investment in research and development has also been effective.
However, Nokia has been investing in 5G technology for some time, and this has led to an improvement in the company’s position on 5G patents. Even in 2019, Nokia ranked first in the world, according to independent research by PA Consulting. The group now publishes the results of a new study that again points to Nokia’s leading position in the registration of standard and essential patents (SEP or Standard Essential Patents) for telecommunications networks, which includes 5G.
Nokia’s official Twitter account wrote this time:
In an independent study, Nokia topped the list of 5G patents. For the second time, the results of a study by PA Consulting Group demonstrated Nokia’s leadership in 5G patents, reflecting our continued investment in research and development.
Of course, Nokia has always attached great importance to research and development. But since 2000, Finnish investment in the sector has exceeded 130 billion euros. As a result, over the past 20 years, the company has achieved 20,000 patent groups, including 3,500 5G patent groups.
Of course, these patents are not far from being present in industry. Because under the FRAND terms, Nokia allows other companies to access and use their patents. So others do not have to spend a lot of money on research and development.
